Another Fun, But Busy Week of Film Stuff

I had another fun, but busy weekend of acting this weekend. First, on Friday and Saturday (September 15th and 16th) I got to attend Augusta's Arts in the Heart festival. Most of my time was spent at the Wages of Cine (pronounced Wages of Sin) booth. I got to talk about Wages of Cine's past projects: "30 Second Movies," and "Arte Factum." I also talked to people about Wages of Cine's current projects: their year-long series, "Old Man of the Rooks," and the review series, "Brainfood Reviewed."

Wages of Cine also has a new project on the horizon. This is a fun project called "Shot for Shot." It challenges film-makers to recreate a scene from a film, or a movie trailer, shot-for-shot. The challenge will be open to any directors, who want to participate.

Tuesday night was the monthly Southeastern Filmmakers meeting, currently held at the Augusta Film Office. It's always great seeing and talking with all the members, and getting the lowdown on what projects they have going on. This particular night we got to watch Cam Logan's short film, "Brynn Gets a Job" (Logan Social). Quite a few of the cast and crew were in attendance. Great job, everyone.

On Saturday (September 23rd), I drove up near Columbia, South Carolina to do a part in Christopher Forbes' "Jesse James Vs the Black Train." This is the follow up to the 2012 film, "Cole Younger and the Black Train," which starred Michael Madsen. It was a pretty late shoot, but fun, none-the-less. There were a lot of young folks involved with rodeo, who got to be part of the crowd, some of them apparently for the first time. It was great to see these folks get a taste for acting. Some even hung out to watch a simulated duel, with pistols. Fun night, but I got back home about 1 in the morning, and had to be up early for another shoot.

Sunday, I rode to Atlanta, with Stephen Gilliam, to do one final scene for A Buck Short Productions' "Frankenthug," written by Richard Tanner. It was a pleasant trip, and we got to Hampton, Georgia, in time to have lunch with Richard and Cassidey Rose, both members of A Buck Short Productions. All the scenes I've seen, that I've been involved with on the "Frankenthug" shoot have been fun, and I can't wait to see the finished product.

This week has continued what has been an extremely busy month. And it looks like the next few weeks will continue to be filled with more film-related activities.
