It's Been a Busy Month... Already! Don't Stop, Bring It On!

The past month has been a pretty busy one for me, filmwise. I had the pleasure of working on no less than six different film projects. As much as I enjoy acting, it feels like I had not had the opportunity to act as much as I would like so far this year. This month, however, has made up for that a little bit.

On the 13th of August, I was able to help some on Eli Montgomery's short Arte Factum fan film. This is a project I'm heading up for the gentlemen at Wages of Cine. Several writer/director/producers were selected to make 'Arte Factum' films in the style of the original Arte Factum project that Wages of Cine conducted throughout 2016. I won't give away any spoilers for Eli's film, but it promises to deliver entertainment.

On the 14th of August, Wages of Cine, Taylor Gary, and I got to film a new batch of "Brainfood Reviewed" episodes. The first one of that batch premiered on August 30th, and touched on the new Korean zombie film, "Train to Busan," which has become a recent hit. The episode also looked at the short award-winning film, "Cargo." Both films were viewer requests, and both films were well worth watching. The remaining episodes of "Brainfood Reviewed" will arrive at two week intervals over the next month and a half.

The 18th through the 20th of August, I attended the Black Cat Picture Show at Le Chat Noir in downtown Augusta, at 8th and Ellis. There were so many great films shown, by a lot of talented folks. One of the highlights for me was hanging out with Richard Tanner and Danielle Page from A Buck Short Productions. Their film, "Room for Rent," was selected for the Wages of Cine award. This is the third year for the Black Cat Picture Show, and the third year Wages of Cine has presented an award for film-making.

The 25th of August was Night of Cine, also at Le Chat Noir. This particular night, the 8th Chapter of the ongoing "Old Man of the Rooks" premiered. This episode was written and directed by Julianna Johnston, and starred: Courtney Danielle Westman, Dakota Lane, Susan Willis, and Chris Welch. This saga, which has been unfolding since January of this year is well worth watching, and following. It will be wrapped up by December, so catch up, now.

The 2nd of September, I got to travel out of state to Salisbury, North Carolina. I had the privilege of doing a few scenes for an upcoming project from Victory Productions. Karlton Clay's company, Victory Productions, has given the world a host of web series, such as "College Daze," "Lyon's Den," "Karma," "Lover's Lane," and numerous others. Hopefully, this new project will find the success that Karlton's other projects have found. I have had a few small appearances in several of these, including "Lyon's Den," and "Karma." Keep up the good work, Karlton.

On Friday, the 8th of September, I was pleased to be able to appear in a Malayalam film called "Detroit Crossing." Malayalam, also called Mollywood, is one of several film industries that operate, and produce films in India. Mollywood, which operates alongside Bollywood, produces films in the Malayalam language. This particular film, called "Ranam"/"Detroit Crossing" stars several big names from Mollywood cinema: Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Mamta Mohandes, who traveled from India to America to star in this film. The entire project is very exciting.

Saturday, the 9th of September, found me working with Matt Pitchford on the 9th Chapter of "The Old Man of the Rooks," which I mentioned earlier. Matt is the current writer/director, and his contribution will premiere at Le Chat Noir on the 29th of September. We'll have to wait until then to see what Matt has prepared for us.

Finally, on Sunday, the 10th of September, I traveled with a couple other actors (and Wages of Cine members) to participate in A Buck Short Productions' 3rd, and latest feature film, "Frankenthug." This low-budget horror/dark comedy is shaping up to be a really fun watch. There are still a few film shoots left before filming is complete, then we will have to give them time to edit. But I encourage everyone to be on the lookout for this film to make its appearance in late 2017/early 2018.

I guess that wraps up my activities for the last month or so. Whew! It can sometimes be exhausting, but it's such a good exhausting. Working with friends and colleagues to create something from nothing, to take a germ of an idea, and expand it into something people can watch and enjoy, making someone's dream a reality is very rewarding, and one of the funnest experiences in my life. Stay tuned for more.
